How To Use LiteBuilder – Bespoke LED Extrusion Lighting Service

1

The LiteShop offers a full range of extrusions and LED tape combinations which can be used for various applications. These applications include recessed lighting under kitchen cabinets, shelf lighting, wardrobe lighting and many options for producing bespoke linear lighting.

If you don’t have the time or are not confident in making up the extrusion and LED tape etc, let us do the hard work for you! Tell us which LED tape you want, which extrusion, which cover, the lengths required of each of these and which driver and we will make up all the lengths for you so that all you have to do is install it. We will even pre-solder all the cables for you if required.

Below is a step-by-step guide to take you through our LiteBuilder service:

2

First of all, select the extrusion style you want. We have 3 options to choose from:

  • LT-Extrusion-1 which can be mounted using a clip system
  • LT-Extrusion-3 which can be mounted using double-sided tape
  • LT-Extrusion-4 which is suitable for recessed applications

Other extrusions are available for shelf lighting, wardrobe hanging rail lighting, step lighting and we can also produce bespoke ceiling lights. All the extrusions listed on our LiteShop are available via this service – please contact us information about the other extrusions that are not listed above.

3

Next, decide what cover you want on the extrusion. We have a clear cover or an opal/diffuser cover. If you select the opal/diffuser cover, it will reduce “spotting” from the LEDs.

4

The next thing to decide upon is the type of LEDs you want to use – the table below describes the LED tape and gives you recommendations for its use.

Product Name Colour Power – Watts Per Metre (to be used when calculating driver size) Recommended Use
LT-Flex-1 White 4.8 Suitable for use in lower output applications in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants
LT-Flex-2 White 13.2 Suitable for use in medium output applications where “spotting” may be an issue due to the high density of LEDs. Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants.
LT-Flex-3 White 14.4 Similar to LT-Flex-2 for applications where “spotting” is not an issue. Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants.
LT-Flex-4 White 17.6 Suitable for use in higher output applications where “spotting” may be an issue due to the high density of LEDs. Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants.
LT-Flex-5 RGBW

(This tape can produce any colour, including white but also has a separate white LED chip for stronger white)

19.2 For use in colour-changing applications where a stronger white light is required.   Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants.
LT-Flex-6 White 19.2 Suitable for use in high output applications where “spotting” is not an issue but the throw of the light needs to extend further. Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants
LT-Flex-7 White 22.5 Similar to LT-Flex-6 but has a slightly higher output. Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants. Higher output LED tapes are available on request
LT-Flex-11 RGB

(This tape can create any colour, including white)

13.2 Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants

LT-Flex-12 White CCT

(This tape allows you to adjust the white colour temperature as required from 2500K to 6000K)

16.8 Suitable for use in all residential areas, offices, shops, bars and restaurants.

Having decided on your extrusion, the cover and the LEDs, you then need to measure the lengths of each of the items required for your project. These can then be entered individually.

6

Then you need to decide which size driver you need for your project – please see the formula below for how to do this:

Each LED strip has a per metre power rating, which ranges from 4.8 watts to 22.5 watts per metre.

In order to calculate which driver you need to order, multiply the power rating figure by the total length of LED strip you are ordering. Then, add 20% to that figure and select the driver which is closest to that figure.

For example, if you have ordered 5 metres of LT-Flex-3 at 14.4 watts per metre, multiply 14.4 by 5, which gives you 72, then add 20% to that figure, which gives you 86.40 – so you need to order the driver called LT-Driver-24-100. (You need to select the driver size that is the next category up from the total that you have just calculated).

If you have any queries about which driver to order, please just give us a call on 44 (0)1225 833696.

7

Finally, you need to decide what type of driver you want, of which we have several types – fixed output, mains dimmable, 1-10V dimmable, Dali/DMX dimmable.

8

If you are using CCT, RGB or just want a dimmer for your white LEDs don’t forget to order a controller here.

We want to make this service as easy as possible for you to us, so if you have any queries about which items to order, please give us a call on 44 (0)1225 833696.
